An Outstanding Novel:
There are many reasons why The Plague is an outstanding book for the college bound. Camus describes the plague with so much detail which almost makes you feels like you are part of it. This novel describes how People in Oran only cared about money before the plague and how the plague made them to not only think about themselves. This book is also a masterpiece because Camus wrote this book to show how people suffered during World War II.

Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to any one who wants to read a book about drama, suspense, tragedy, and adventure. The book is interesting and well written. The book intrigues the reader into wanting to keep on reading. I give this book 4 out of 5.

Quotes from the book:

"They fancied themselves free, and no one will ever be free so long as there are pestilences." (Camus 37)

" you can't understand. You're using the language of reason, not of the heart; you live in a world of abstractions." (Camus 87)

"No longer were there individual destinies; only a collective destiny, made of plague and emotions shared by all." (Camus 137)

"No, we should go forward, groping our way through the darkness, stumbling perhaps at times, and try to do what good lay in our power. As for the rest, we must hold fast, trusting in the divine goodness, even as to the deaths of little children, and not seeking personal respite." (Camus 227)
